Senegal has lots of great places to travel to and one of them is Lake Retba. It has been described in the past as a raspberry milkshake due to the pink color of the water. However, on closer inspection, the water isn’t actually pink and definitely doesn’t taste like a raspberry milkshake.

The lake actually gets its color from algae that cause red pigment, which resists the high salinity level of the water. It is actually when the salt and pigment collide, which causes the pink color, and it is pinkest during the dry season. The water is so salty that you can easily float on it.
